New Flower Fashions for Trendy Weddings!
Brides no longer are choosing the traditional flowers with plain white and fern greenery. Lately, the sky is the limit. There is an infinite number and assortment of beautiful flowers to select from. Use your imagination and unique personality to spice up the flowers in your wedding. Here are a few new flower trends to get your imagination churning.
- You might consider the “champagne wedding.” With this theme, both the bride and attendants carry all-white, fragrant bouquets.
- In contrast to the trend-setting theme of the “champagne wedding”, the rich, deep floral colors are rising in popularity. Many brides are choosing the rich, deep colors such as rose, burgundy and deep violet.
- To add a modern style to your wedding, consider a bouquet with a more modern look. Some favorites include: large, yellow sunflowers, or colorful posy bouquets consisting of many different kinds of flowers. You might want to consider carrying one single lily if you have a very simple, but stylish gown. The two together look absolutely gorgeous!
- Another popular trend is the Victorian influence. This style includes romantic, soft colored blush roses and baby’s breath. These flowers can be placed in the bride’s hair, as well as in the bouquet, and can be carried by the flower girls. Mothers of the bride can be given a single flower to carry, or be offered a simple, pretty nosegay.
- How about flowers on your cake and buffet table? Add flowers to your cake knife, goblets, or serving plates. With this type of floral detail you are sure to make a difference to the appearance and celebratory mood of your reception.
- There is a new trend with using flowers as a lovely way to say “thank you.” Corsages and boutonnieres can be given to your close family, friends or to wedding participants who have helped with your wedding day. You could also offer a corsage or boutonniere to your music specialist, and officiator.
- One of the newest styles of bouquets is the hand tied bouquet. These are a fresh bouquet of flowers, or posy style, that give the “just picked” look of simple elegance to the bride and bridal party.
- Fragrance has become a trend in weddings today. Brides are choosing flowers with a lovely scent for their bouquet. Some of these sweet-scented beauties include: gardenias, peonies, stephanotis and tuberoses.
- Lily of the valley and orchids are classic and timeless beauties that are still a popular choice for some brides. They are usually arranged into a soft and romantic style of bouquet, and can be held in the hands or cradled in the bride’s arms.
Important Things to Remember
Be aware that if your wedding date is around the time of a flower-giving holiday such as, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc. you will probably pay more.
The florist will be totally swamped at this time of year, so be prepared with all of your information and don’t expect to be the center of attention.
An excellent place to start is with the bride and bridesmaid’s bouquet. Work with those colors and flower types to create your centerpieces, alter arrangements and other floral décor.
You don’t have to book with the florist on the spot. Take your quote home and think it over. The more information you give your floral designer, the better they will understand what you want.
If you choose flowers that are not in season and have to be shipped, you are looking at a bigger expense and you don’t know what affect the shipping will cause on your flowers.
Try and find a florist whose style and price you like. Be specific about your tastes and what you want. Don’t just say I’d like a bouquet that’s white with roses. There are so many different styles, shapes and sizes; you don’t want to be disappointed.
Now that you’ve chosen your designer, it’s time to show your style. In the months before your wedding try to save photos of the style you like, the shapes of bouquets or just color that really catches your eye. Magazines, books, and websites are great for ideas. Not only wedding magazines, but garden and home related media will help you become aware as to what is available in flowers. Bring all of these photos to each appointment with your floral designer. Along with his or her expertise, knowledge of flowers, extra time and patience, you will be able to come up with the perfect selection.
Selecting all the necessary items for the bridal party, ceremony and reception can seem like an overpowering task, but once the style and feeling of the flowers are determined, it quickly falls into place. Start with the bouquets, move on to the ceremony décor and finish up with the reception.
To help alleviate anxiety on your wedding day, it will help to ask these questions ahead of time.
- What type of services will be offered the day of the wedding?
- Where and when will the flowers be delivered and by whom?
- Will there be someone at the ceremony to pin on the boutonnieres and corsages, set-up the altar designs, pew décor, runner, etc?
- Will the floral designer transfer the ceremony flowers to the reception or do I need to arrange to have this done?
Your floral designer will be one of your best assets on the day of your wedding. All the flowers should be delivered to the locations specified in the contract. A trained professional knows how to transport and reset these delicate items so they will look fantastic at the ceremony and the reception.
If you invest a little time before the wedding day to look for the very best floral designer that shares your vision for the perfect wedding, you will be delighted with the outcome. The more you let your personality show, the easier it will be for a designer to create something that shows the real you. A floral designer that is enthusiastic about their work leaves a little piece of their heart with each bride.
