Wedding on a Gorgeous Texas Evening

Kevin came to Austin to visit friends over the Fourth of July weekend and was introduced to the love of his life, Kim. They instantly felt a connection, and the day after they met, on the fourth, Kevin took Kim to dinner, and then they watched the fireworks over Town Lake. They have talked every day since and eventually moved to the same city to be together.
Kevin flew to Philadelphia to buy Kim’s engagement ring in early December. Since the ring was custom-made, the expected delivery date was in two weeks, just before Christmas. Kevin had planned to propose over dinner, and was so excited that Kim would have her ring before the holidays. When the ring didn’t arrive on time, Kevin got worried, but he got the call on Christmas Eve that the ring had finally arrived. He picked the ring up, and was so excited to propose that he rushed home and immediately got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” Kim had just gotten out of the shower. She was in her robe and her hair was all wet. She was shocked, but of course she said yes.
“Even though it wasn’t the romantic setting he had hoped for, it was the perfect way to spend Christmas,” said Kim.
The newly engaged couple decided not to hire a wedding planner. Kim’s mom and stepmom played a huge part in helping to plan the wedding.
“I am truly blessed to have them in my life,” said Kim.
They hired Shea from Sterling Affairs to help with the rehearsal and the day of the wedding.
Kim and Kevin exchanged wedding vows on a gorgeous Texas Saturday evening at The Vista on Seward Hill in front of 140 friends and family members. The aisle was decorated with pink and white roses. Shepherd hooks with pink pomander balls lined the aisle and the bride carried a bouquet of primarily white and pink roses accented with crystals. It was an enchanting ceremony at an enchanting venue.
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour before sitting down to dinner. The dinner tables were decorated with tall vases full of white roses and hydrangeas. The tables were draped with luscious chocolate brown linens and the chairs were wrapped with satin Tiffany blue sashes. After a delectable dinner, the guests made their way to the reception area for dancing and cake cutting. Simon Lee provided the spectacular five-tier white cake that was decorated with beautiful scattered flowers. It sat on top of a raised glass plate with pink and white flowers underneath.
The reception spilled out into the beautiful patios and grounds at the Vista. The trees were lit with hundreds of twinkle lights that added a special ambiance to the evening. The fire tables were lit and cigars were provided for the gentlemen to enjoy. To infuse some whimsy into their wedding, Kim and Kevin provided a candy bar for the guests to enjoy.
When the evening came to an end, the guests threw rose petals as Kim and Kevin left in a 1937 Cadillac. The guests were shuttled from the venue to the hotel, as Kevin, a policeman, was sensitive to the safety needs of their guests.
The happy couple left for a weeklong honeymoon to Costa Rica the next morning with the memories of their gorgeous wedding on a Texas evening close to their hearts.
