Bastrop Convention and Exhibit Center, Austin Area Weddings, Ceremonies & Recep

 

The city of Bastrop, Texas, nestled on the banks of the Colorado River is just 30 minutes from Austin, and less than two hours from Houston. Bastrop is at the juncture of Highways 71, 21 and 95, and is 22 miles from the Austin- Bergstrom International Airport. With more than 130 historic homes and sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Bastrop was recently named one of a Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the nation for the National Trust of Historic Preservation.

This small historic town is known for its’ Texas size welcome and hospitality. Residents and guest enjoy the charm and feeling of home as they stroll the streets of the down town area. Antique shops, bakeries, restaurants, boutiques and an old time drug store are just a few things you will find as you walk through town. You will find the Colorado River just behind the buildings on Main Street. A blanket and a picnic basket are all you need to enjoy the afternoon. There are several easy access entrances to the River walk nature trail. This one-half mile trail offers a peaceful stroll along the banks of the river.

Bastrop is home to two museums. The Bastrop County Historical Society Museum on Main Street includes a large collection of historical photographs and memorabilia. The Central Texas Museum of Automotive History traces the history of the automobile. This museum just 15 miles from town offers Vintage cars; trucks and other vehicles are on display. Just off Main Street you will find the Bastrop Opera House. The Bastrop Opera House built in 1889, was renovated in 1984 and restored to its original purpose. This award winning Theatre features comedy, dramatic and musical productions year-round. A historic walking tour brochure is available from the Bastrop Old Town Visitor Center located on Main Street.

Lake Bastrop and the Colorado River offer fishing, boating and other water activities. The LCRA‘s McKinney Roughs Nature Park is just minutes away and features miles of walking and equestrian trails.

Accommodations include a wide variety of lodging choices. In Bastrop you will find charming historical bed and breakfast inns located within the historical district. Across the old iron bridge you will find hotels that are surrounded with additional restaurants and retail stores and just minutes away there is a 4 star resort complete with luxurious surroundings, spa and golf course.
