Austin PPA (APPA) was proud to award Maria Bernal as APPA 2009 Photographer of the Year.

Maria is a highly respected photographer within the Austin area and has been making a solid name for herself within the photographic community.

Maria moved to Texas from Arizona and opened the doors to her Cedar Park studio in Fall 2008. Since moving to Austin area, Maria has won 11 APPA awards including the best portrait, best illustrative and best in show at the 2009 APPA annual competition. Maria took home the trophy for best new entry, a trophy for best wedding album as well as a distinguished print award at the 2009 annual Texas State PPA. Maria also competed at the Southwestern region, which encompasses 6 states and received two distinguished print awards.

Maria is known in Austin for being a fashion and wedding photographer as well as a recognized studio lighting instructor. Maria is also a PPA speaker and her program will be seen throughout Texas and other states in 2010. Maria is the Vice President of the Austin PPA.

Maria’s portraiture and wedding style timeless and romantic with a slight editorial style which has made her highly sought after for portraiture. Maria has been interviewed for various magazines throughout Texas as a top wedding photographer.
